Myths about free and reduced meals –

  1. Everyone will know my child is free or reduced. There is nothing that identifies a student that is free or reduced. The only people that will know would be a few administration members or line clerk.
  2. Applying is hard. Applying is actually very simple. All that is required is to fill out the information, no additional information is required unless it is selected for review. If that is the case we will contact you.  This is a random process so if you are selected it is nothing you have done wrong.
  3. Burden for the school. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! The school does not lose any money for any student that receives free or reduced students.

Just a little note about what we offer for lunches 😊

As you are probably aware, we offer Paw Packs for K-5 students.  These are just a healthier version of Lunchables basically.  We make them fresh daily as a cold option for students that do not like the hot meal choice for the day.  They meet all the requirements for NSLP.  They were a huge success last year and hope to continue with that success this coming year.  Each morning the students get to choose if they would like a paw pack or hot lunch.

We also started the salad bar/nacho bar last year for 6-12.  This went over extremely well and will be continued again this upcoming year. Students will punch in their numbers and decide which line they would like to go through, hot lunch or the salad/nacho bar.  Again, this meets all the requirements for NSLP.

Overall, I am very excited about the changes being made in our department and I will continue to work to provide excellent meals for your children. I have an amazing staff that prides themselves in making sure that lunch is an enjoyable experience for the students. If you have any questions or concerns always feel free to contact me.
