The Governor recommended tonight that all Iowa schools will be closed for four weeks until April 13, 2020. In the short term that means our schools are inaccessible except for designated staff. All athletic practices, and activities are canceled effective immediately. Please know we are working through all options for our staff, students, and families and will have more information soon.
In addition, the Governor plans to announce more information tomorrow and we will communicate with you once we know more in regards to the next steps.
We will continue to work with the Governor and Department of Education on a plan for students and staff. As this situation changes rapidly, please know we will communicate information with you as soon as we can that more clearly defines school closure expectations.
Additional information regarding COVID-19 and what Carlisle CSD is doing to reduce the spread of the virus.
Carlisle CSD and City of Carlisle officials are working collaboratively to be proactive and preventative, while operating in a state of preparedness. We are in constant communication with the Warren and Polk County Health Department, as well as the Iowa Department of Public Health. Moving forward, we will continue to partner with and follow the guidance of these agencies. For reference, the most up-to-date information about the coronavirus can be found via the Iowa Department of Public Health Coronavirus and the Centers for Disease Control Coronavirus.
The Carlisle School District continues to closely monitor the potential impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on the school community. The district has not experienced any active cases of COVID-19.
As Spring Break draws near, we are asking all Carlisle CSD students, families, and staff to take extra precautions when traveling. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s travel guidelines provide country-specific information at the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Information for Travel website. The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) recommends that anyone who visits those countries voluntarily self-isolate for 14 days upon their return.
Carlisle CSD continues to follow the guidance of local, state and federal health officials with regard to all communicable diseases. While there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Iowa, we continue to remind our school community that the best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are the same preventions that are recommended for the spread of the flu and common cold.
