Bio

Hello, and welcome to my webpage! I'm Mr. Lichty, and this is my 2nd year with Carlisle CSD. I started in the district last year working as a part-time band instructor; the 2021-2022 school year is my first year of full-time teaching. My responsibilities include teaching 5th grade and 8th grade bands, co-teaching 7th grade band, directing one of the middle school jazz bands, and assisting the high school marching band. 

 

I'm originally from Hudson, IA, and I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2017 with a degree in music education with a jazz emphasis. After student teaching in Cedar Falls and Kansas City, I worked as a cruise ship musician with Crystal Cruises, traveling to over 40 countries in 2 years. Last year, I was lucky enough to have been hired in Carlisle CSD, the same district where my sister and her family live. I currently live in Des Moines where I am also an active performer in the music scene.

 

In addition to teaching and performing, I also enjoy composing music, long distance running, weight lifting, golfing, watching movies, board games, and spending as much time with my friends and family as I possibly can. I am greatly looking forward to continue working with the students, staff, and parents at Carlisle in this role!
