My name is Alex Wright and I’m proud to be serving as the school counselor at THE Carlisle Elementary. It is my great pleasure to serve our wonderful students alongside an amazing staff of teachers and associates. My goal as a counselor is to be accessible to each and every student in our building and I believe that, while academics are the foundation of education, social and emotional development are as equally essential to our students’ growth and overall well-being!
Our goal as a comprehensive counseling program is to lead students to become productive, respectful, and responsible individuals that share a positive vision for the future! I encourage every student to view their mistakes and failures as opportunities for learning and improvement. Every student comes from a different background with their own unique set of challenges; our goal at Carlisle Elementary is to meet our students where their needs are and help them find the best path to success!
I am a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, receiving my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s in School Counseling. When I’m not at school, you will most often find me reading a book at the coffee shop or spending time with friends playing cornhole, strategy board games, or enjoying various entertainment events around the Des Moines community. I live my life by the mantra I once heard daily over the announcements when I myself was in grade school . . .
“make it a great day or not, the choice is yours!”
As the elementary school counselor, I am here to serve students and families in any way I can. If there is anything you need, don’t hesitate to contact me via phone or email.
