Confidence Intervals Project: Task 7 in Google Classroom

Confidence Intervals Project: Task 7

Good morning Probability and Statistics students! Today you will be completing the final task of your confidence intervals project. Please answer the reflection questions on your attached google doc.

Reminder: You will have to complete tasks 4-7 in order! Please go back and complete the others first, otherwise this won't make sense.

Due:

Confidence Intervals Project: Task 6 in Google Classroom

Confidence Intervals Project: Task 6

Construct a 90% confidence interval for your data set. Complete your attached google doc and turn it in.

Reminder: You will need to complete tasks 4-7 in order! Please go back and complete those first, otherwise this won't make sense.

Due:

Confidence Intervals Project: Task 5 in Google Classroom

Confidence Intervals Project: Task 5

TASK 4 MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE TASK 5!

Task 5: It's time to gather your data!

Conduct a survey to gather data on your topic. Social media is a great tool for this. You could post a poll on twitter or Instagram. Another option would be to post your topic on our google classroom page. If you need help gathering data, let me know and we will figure something out.

Remember, your population is all Carlisle High School students. Your sample must be a subset of the population, so you can only use data from CHS students. If other respond to your survey, you cannot use them in your sample.

Please fill out your attached google doc using your sample data.

Stay tuned! Your next task will come out Monday, April 27th. Try to have this completed before then.

Catching Skittles: Task 3 in Google Classroom

Catching Skittles: Task 3

Good morning Probability and Statistics! Today you will be completing the final task of the catching skittles project. Please answer the reflection questions on your attached google doc. Try to have this done before Wednesday 4/22. Your next steps will be posted then.

*It is preferred that you do tasks 1-2 before this task, but not required! If you are just now joining us, we will start a new confidence interval project on Wednesday :)

Due:

Catching Skittles, Task 2 in Google Classroom

Catching Skittles, Task 2

Construct a 90% confidence interval for each data set. Complete your attached google doc and turn it in. Even if you didn't get a chance to do task 1, you are still able to complete task 2!

Your final task for the catching skittles project will be posted Monday morning!

*Note: there is an extra copy of the standard normal probability table already posted to this google classroom!

Catching Skittles: Confidence Intervals in Google Classroom

Catching Skittles: Confidence Intervals

Introduction: Everyone has tried to catch a piece of candy in his/her mouth after tossing it in the air. However, does it make a difference if you throw it in the air, or a friend throws it at you? We are going to construct two confidence intervals to find out!

In unit 6 we learned that confidence intervals are used to approximate data for an entire population. Our population will be all Carlisle High School students and family members. Because COVID19 is keeping us all at home, it is impossible for us to gather data on all CHS students and family members right now. We will have to use a sample of students (our class) to make approximations about the population.

Task 1: It’s time to gather our data. This is the fun part! We will be collecting 2 sets of data.

Disclaimer: PLEASE DO NOT GO OUT AND BUY SKITTLES!!! We’re going to pretend we all used skittles, but please (for the sake of social distancing!) use whatever you can find in your home. Some other good options: cereal, goldfish crackers, pretzels, candy, popcorn, etc.

Data set A: conduct 10 trials where you throw the candy to yourself and try to catch it in your mouth. Let A = the
number (out of 10) that you catch.
Data set B: conduct 10 trials where someone else throws the candy to you to catch in your mouth. Let B = the number
(out of 10) that you catch.

Comment on this post what your A and B values are. More data is always better! Your family members are welcome to join in. You can find and comment their A and B values as well.

Stay tuned! Your next task will come out Wednesday, April 15th. Try to have this completed before then.
